I found the quality of the timber and machining to be excellent. I did a lot of sanding and painting and used about 5 cans of clear lacquer to get a good look. I changed the pickups and surrounds for some more expensive ones and changed the toggle switch and pick board to match my colour scheme. The finished result is great. I love the Zebra effect. I bought your kit for the great look and fun at making it.I would like to get another one of your kits, Ive been looking at your web site waiting for something that takes my fancy.

Is the kit solid zebra wood or is it a zebra veneer on top of mahogany? If it's mahogany body and neck with a veneer I'm very interested. If it's not, could you point me to a kit that is?

For your preferred mahogany body/neck with zebrawood veneer setup, we have two options for you:
1. Our ready-made finished YMZ-087 model, built exactly to this specification.
2. A fully custom DIY kit of this configuration, with a minimum order quantity of just 1 set.

This is my first, so I have some questions like do I just use wood glue for the neck install and any suggestions on making sure the neck is right before gluing?

Regarding your concern: yes, the body comes with pre‑routed cavities for pickups, as well as pre‑drilled holes for the bridge and tailpiece, exactly as shown in the product photos. You won’t need to do any additional routing or drilling for these parts.
